Private Broadcasters Invest in the Broadcasters of the Future

Every year, the Canadian Association of Broadcasters (CAB) offers, in collaboration with its members, scholarships to four talented Canadian broadcasting and communications students.

These prestigious scholarships help further students' education and boost their prospects for an exciting, rewarding career in Canadian broadcasting.

Private Broadcast Industry Scholarships

Jim Allard Scholarship
Jim Allard scholarship honours the memory of T.J. Allard, long-time executive vice-president for the CAB. This scholarship is offered to a student who best combines academic achievement with natural talent. Aspiring broadcasters enrolled in a broadcast journalism course at a Canadian college or university are eligible to apply for the $2500 Jim Allard Broadcast Journalism Scholarship.

Ruth Hancock Scholarship
Ruth Hancock Scholarship honours the memory of Ruth Hancock who was manager of the CAB’s Toronto office as well as secretary to both the Broadcast Executives Society and the Central Canada Broadcasters’ Association for 12 years. She then became executive assistant to the President of CTV Television Network. Three scholarships of $1500 are given to students who are enrolled in a recognized communications or marketing course in Canada and who want to pursue a career in Canadian broadcasting or Broadcast Sales/Marketing. This scholarship is offered to students who have a genuine interest in pursuing a broadcasting career.
