Surely, Paul Martin knows that there are ten provinces in Canada. He’s even counted them out for us on his fingers! So why then, is Paul only fielding ‘young candidates’ in three provinces?
I know that it can be hard to attract the best and brightest young Canadians to a political party mired in corruption and kick back schemes – but of the 15 candidates listed as ‘young liberals’: 9 are running in Quebec, 5 are in Ontario, and 1 is running in Saskatchewan.
So…what’s the game plan Liberal Youth Wing? Just ignore the rest of Canada while playing with your Tonka Trucks? The Liberals constantly proclaim themselves as the only party which listens to youth in our country. But I find that hard to believe with such a feeble offering of young candidates. In fact, we had more Young Conservatives elected in the last Parliament than the Liberals have running in this election nation wide!
If you’re reading this blog, and can’t decide who to vote for – think about indicators like this! They’re important.
Ask what the contending parties plan to do for Young Canadians if elected: do they offer credits for university books, incentives to find trades work, or ways to make public transit less expensive? Are they committed to the future of this country, or are they focused on a past record?
It’s very easy for the Liberals to pump out rhetoric; but at the end of the day their actions do not live up to their words. The NDP can promise young Canadians the moon, because they’ll never be in a governmental position to deliver what they promise. Only Conservative candidates such as Patrick Robert, Rona Ambrose, and James Moore are in a position to deliver the promises that they are making to us…
