Held
in 2003, the Baldwin Street Reunion brought former neighbours together
for the first time in twenty-five years or more.
Mary Rauton arrived in Canada from the United States in 1968. In
addition to the sounds of the reunion in full swing, Mary recounts
her old neighbourhood, Baldwin Street.
“I just
want to celebrate people, not races.
“Being with all people allows me to know people as
people.
“I love the diversity of color. We all cry. We all
rejoice. We have family ties, regrets, disappointments and
joy.”
