Statement by the Embassy of Canada on the Occasion of Eid Al-Adha

(November 5, 2011) Acting Head of the Embassy of Canada, Philip MacKinnon, today issued the following statement on the occasion of Eid al-Adha:

“Today marks a significant day for Muslims in Afghanistan, Canada, and around the world as it is the beginning of the three days of Eid al-Adha, one of two Eid celebrations in the Islamic calendar.”

“For Muslims all over the world, including more than 600 000 Muslim-Canadians, Eid al-Adha is a time to celebrate with family and friends. It also serves as a reminder, for each of us, to look after those in need.”

“On behalf of the staff of the Embassy of Canada in Kabul and all Canadians, I wish Afghans and their families a joyful Eid al-Adha. We wish you prosperity, harmony, and good health.”

“Eid al-Adha Mubarak.”
