Spring Lake School

The first Spring Lake School was built in 1889. This school was used for 10 years and then was converted into a home which was then bought and occupied by the Knox family.

A second Spring Lake School was built in 1899. In 1915 the school was moved to a new location. The school survived at its new resting place until it was completely destroyed by a fire on the morning of September 26, 1921.

The third Spring Lake School that was constructed had a modern frame with a Waterman Waterbury furnace and an indoor toilet.  Administration of Spring Lake School was taken over by the Broadview School Unit in 1946. The country school continued operation until 1959 when students began to be bused to Broadview for their classes.

Spring Lake School is still used for showers, card parties and the annual picnic which is held at the end of June.
