Grenfell Hospital

In January, 1912, the Hospital Guild asked that the town council grant aid for the erection and maintenance for a hospital in the village.  There were no government grants available at the time.  A Cottage Hospital was opened in due time, in a house which belonged to the Peels. This was the first hospital in Grenfell.  It closed sometime during the war.

With the end of the war, the home of Harry and Beatrice Prentice became the Cottage Hospital, which was established in 1914.  There was no government grant to use towards starting a hospital so the Prentices started their own hospital, in their home.

In 1946 the government grant came through and the large brick house on Wolseley Avenue was purchased to become the hospital.

In 1962 a new hospital was built on Stella Street.
