Johnny's Truck Stop was built around the same time that the Aubrey Falls dam was built, in the late 1960's. The main purpose of the restaurant at the time was to provide food and drink for the men working on the dam. Sometime during the 1970's, a Scotsman owned the camp. Barry Beckett bought it from him in 1983.

In 1984, Pam, Chris and Rachel Anber bought the lodge from Beckett, and changed the name to Anber's Aubrey Falls Dining Lounge. At the time that they bought it, there was lodge, a small cabin which had previously been a dorm for the staff, and 2 other cabins, one which slept six people and the other slept eight. In 1985, Chris Anber built a log cabin which slept 8 people, as well as a bath and shower house.

During the time that the Anbers owned the dining lounge, some of their business came from tourists, especially during the May 24th holiday and the October moose season. More business came from contracts with the MNR and similar groups, who would pay the Anbers to feed people working around the area. Most of their business, however, came from truckers, of which there were many. The Anbers made friends with quite a few of these truckers, and keep in touch with some of them even today.

In 1985, the Anbers had to hire extra staff because the place was so busy. However, later that year inflation and the cost of gas affected many local businesses, including the Anber's Aubrey Falls Dining Lounge.

The Anbers sold the business back to Barry Beckett in November 1986. Barry owned it until 1989, when he sold it to Johnny Wagner, who is the current owner. Since the time that Mr. Wagner bought the business, he has changed the name to Johnny's Truck Stop, completely rebuilt the restaurant and motel, and put in a liquor store, a garage and a service center. The business is now for sale, as Mr. Wagner is looking to retire.
