Snowshoe Creek Camp is located on Wakomata Lake, on the Wakomata Lake Road about 20 kilometres north of Wharncliffe. It was started in the late 1940's by Ted Clinton, who was the brother of Art Clinton (first owner of Wakomata Shores Resort). Ted ran the camp for 25 years, eventually building 7 cabins and a small house. Electricity was made available to the camp in 1965 - before that Ted had a generator. When Ted sold the camp to Hank Bonnein 1970, he kept one of the cabins for himself, but later sold it.

Hanke Bonne owned the camp for about 4 or 5 years, then sold it to Wolfgang Kneckelbine, who owned it until 1980, when Doug and Diane bought it.

During the time that Ted Clinton owned the place, business went very well. During the 1970's, Bonne and Kneckelbine both ran the camp less enthusiastically, and business decreased slightly. When the Haggerty's bought the camp, they had a lot of work to do. First they needed to clean the camp up. Then they decided to put in indoor washrooms and winterize the cabins, and they also built another cabin. Now 5 out of 7 cabins have indoor facilities, and the 6th will probably be ready for fall 1998. The Haggerty's built a showerhouse in the early 1980's, and are hoping to build a sauna soon. As well, they built a much larger house/lodge.

The Haggerty's run the camp much like Ted Clinton did, with lots of enthusiasm, and so business has picked up once again. When they first bought the camp it catered mainly to groups of fishermen, but has now become more of a family camp.
