American Toad

besides the Fowler's Toad, which only lives on the beaches of Lake Erie. They are usually spotted when they are quite small, and are mistaken for a separate species because they can grow to be as large as a Bullfrog, and look radically different when grown. Though rare, those that do live long enough to reach the size of a Bullfrog usually only come out at night. Their skin is a mixture of brown, tan, rust, or green, with warts, and their underside is a grey-white. They can be spotted in forests, meadows, shallow ponds, gardens and marshes, and during their first year they can be seen on beaches when they are quite small.
