The Bullfrog

The Bullfrog is the largest frog in Ontario.

They are named after their deep calls, which sound like the distant bellowing of a bull. They are more aquatic than other frogs and are seldom seen on land. They are usually a green or greenish brown colour, white a grey-white or pale yellow underside. They are largely known for their big meaty legs, and are often poached for them. This and habitat destruction, pesticide poisoning, and acid rain have caused the population of the frog decrease, and its existence in Ontario seems to be in trouble.
