Trembling Aspen

The trembling aspen, sometimes called quaking aspen, golden aspen, mountain aspen, trembling poplar and popple, is one of the Mississagi Valley's loveliest trees. Native Americans referred to the tree as "noisy leaf" or "noisy tree". The tree's leaves are long and flat, which allows them to move easier in the wind. The trembling aspen grows easily in burnt or disturbed areas. Although it can grow up to 90 feet, it usually only attains 40 to 65 feet. Its bark is almost a silver colour, very smooth and shiny, and its leaves are small, silvery-green and round.
