George Harris
George Harris is the pseudonym of an RCAF airman, who preferred not to have his name known out of deference to the memory of his fellow aircrew members, none of whom survived their attack over Germany in 1943. George was born in a small town on the prairies, and enlisted in 1940. He was shot down on his third mission, and was captured, interrogated and then interred in Stalag Luft III in Sagan. This is the camp from which the infamous Great Escape took place. George survived the winter march to Lubeck, and was repatriated to Canada, where he joined a large corporation and enjoyed an extremely successful career, ending his career as president of his company. He lives in Ontario.
Toronto where he became an urban planner. He lives in Don Mills with his wife.
