Nathan Kronis

Nathan Kronis was a founder and early officer of Knesseth Israel synagogue and acting trustee in the purchase of the Synagogue’s cemetery. Born in the Ukraine, he immigrated to Canada where he trained as a cabinet-maker and later found employment at the Heintzman and Company Limited piano factory. Nathan was an immensely charitable man and was viewed by many people as a patriarch of the Jewish community. He was married for over sixty years to Sima Kronis and had five sons: Sam, Barney, Harry, Dave, and Max. He lived on Maria Street from 1911 until his passing in 1972 at the age of 90.
