The Ecofile is an award-winning and pioneering environmental program, now in its fifth season.
When the work of the government-commissioned Alberta Roundtable on Environment and The Economy (ARTEE) was brought to a close, members of the Roundtable approached
CKUA to consider a radio series; one that would monitor a variety of environment and economic indicators and provide education and information on issues related to sustainable economic development in Alberta.
CKUA took up the challenge and brought in respected environmental journalist David Dodge to produce and host the series.
Each week on The Ecofile, Dodge provides an examination of the sustainability of Alberta's economic growth. Topics are wide-ranging and include air and water quality, sustainable agricultural practices, poverty, economic health, developing new economic models that include environmental factors, environmental regulations and industrial practices and even nature appreciation.
The Ecofile already has garnered serious attention from leaders in Alberta's business and environmental communities, witnessed by the program being awarded the 1997 Communications, Media & The Arts Award from the Emerald Foundation For Environmental Excellence.
The Ecofile, sponsored by Epcor ... Saturdays at 12:10 p.m.
