Ivory Gull


Inuktitut name - Naujaqpak or Naujavak

Colour - head and body white; legs black

Length - 37 to 42 cm

Shape - long wings

Behaviour - often associated with marine mammal carcasses, where it is an excellent scavenger; also eats small fish

Distribution - breeds on Seymour Island, north-west Baffin Island and Ellesmere Island; present in northern Baffin Bay in summer; migrates in fall to Davis Strait and then to pack ice off Labrador and Newfoundland
