First Nations Affiliation: Kwakwaka'wakw (Kwakiutl)

A graphic artist, painter, and since 1975, a carver, Kwakwaka'wakw artist Wayne Alfred is linked to a lineage of prominent Northwest Coast carvers through his cousin Richard Hunt. In 1987, Alfred carved a commissioned pole for a Vancouver park.
