M i c h e l s o n b. 1953, Buffalo, New York Alan Michelson trained at New York's Columbia College, the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and earned a B.F.A. from Tufts University. In 1987 he was awarded a prestigious National Arts Endowment Fellowship. Michelson's work in multi-media installation strives to illuminate the power imbalances and ethnocentrism implicated in ethnography and collecting.
