o g a n o s h b. 1949, Magnetawan
Reserve, Byng Inlet, Ontario A graphic artist, photographer, and installation
artist, Ron Noganosh began his career by obtaining diplomas first in welding (1968) and
then graphic design (1970). In the 1980s, Noganosh completed a B.A. at the University of
Ottawa while teaching in Hull, Québec, and giving sculpture workshops. He is best known
for assemblage sculptures and installations which utilize urban detritus such as beer
caps, auto parts, and discarded toys in a sardonic critique of societys excesses and
errors, from pollution, to the genocide of the Indigenous inhabitants of the Americas. In
the 1990s, Noganosh was honoured with several awards, including a scholarship for an
artist's residency at the Banff Centre for the Arts, and the Ontario Arts Council and
Canada Council awards. R E C E N T E X H I B I T I O N S
