Six Nations Reserve, Ontario Photographer Greg Staats graduated from Sheridan College, Ontario, in 1985. Working often in series of diptychs and triptychs and incorporating English and Aboriginal text, Staats's work seeks to reinscribe positive, yet non-romanticized images of First Nations People and their relationship with the land. In addition to the inclusion of his work in the 1992 film Medicine River, commissions include photos for the Ontario Women's Directorate and the Native Studies Curriculum Guideline by the Ontario Ministry of Education, both in 1991.
