Ronald Benjamin Moppett was born in Woking, Surrey, England, 1945. He came to Canada in the same year with his parents, who settled in Calgary, Alberta. From 1963 to 1967, he studied at the Alberta College of Art under I.H. Kerr and R.J. Spickett, and in 1968 won a scholarship to study at the Instituto de Allende in Mexico. Between 1967 and 1969, he worked at the Arts and Crafts Division of the Government of Alberta and, was Curator at the Alberta College of Art in 1970-71. His work was shown in many exhibitions across the country and hangs, among others, in the National Gallery of Canada and the Alberta College of Art. Ron Moppett lives and works in Calgary.
