Special Characteristics: Aeshnidae are usually dark coloured with the thorax blue or greenish. They have clear, glassy wings. Their eyes are hemispherical and meet on top of the head.

Comments: This family includes the largest dragonflies. They are found around ponds and swamps. Adults are very strong fliers that will patrol a hunting territory along the edge of the water body.
