Special Characteristics: Tineidae are small moths, usually dull coloured. They have threadlike antennae with a ring of scales on each segment. The adults have short palps and the proboscis is small or absent.

Comments: The larvae feed on a variety of substances including leaves, fungus, vegetable fibers, wool or hair. The species that feed on wool can be major pests in houses.
