Special Characteristics: The dorsal surface of the body is elaborately sculptured in adults. The pronotum often extends over the head like a hood.

Comments: lace bugs are phytophagous and feed on herbaceous plants and trees. Feeding can cause a yellow spotting of the leaf. With continued feeding the leaf becomes brown and falls off. Some species can do considerable damage to trees.
