The
log cabin adjacent to the teepee is a replica of a Northwest
Fur Trading Post built by fur trader Angus Shaw in 1789
at Moose Lake. Shaw moved from Moose Lake in 1972, mapping
yet another trade route, this time down toward Elk Point.
Shaw's post at Moose Lake continued to operate as an emergency
supply shelter to succeeding fur traders. To the natives
it was know as, "The Place of Many Cellars" since
they used the fort as a spring gathering place for many
years following Shaw's departure.
