History of the Saint Louis Credit Union Ltd.
On January 25, 1940, a first meeting was held in the gym of "Bonnyville School" to establish a Credit Union. The goal of the organizers was to create a financial institution that would cater to the French and Catholics of the St. Louis Parish.

Nearly thirty people were present at the meeting. Rev. J . E. Lapointe chaired the meeting while T. E. Lambert acted as secretary. Roméo Lamothe, Maurice Biron, Lucien Hétu, Hervé Turcotte, Dr. S. Sabourin and Henri Dupré formed a research committee.

On April 27, 1940, after a special meeting held in the vestry, the committee decided to apply with the provincial government to be incorporated under the name of "St. Louis Savings & Credit Union Ltd.". Certificat no. 29 was presented May 7, 1940.

On May 23, 1940, the first general meeting was held. The first elected directors were: Oscar Nobert, President; Dr. S. Sabourin, Vice President; and Arthur Lambert, Rev. J.E. Lapointe, & P. Gigère, Directors.

On August 20, 1965 the name was changed to read "Caisse Populaire Saint-Louis Credit Union Ltd." On February 17, 1967, the Memorandum of Association was amended so that the Credit Union could accept all residents of the community.
