reasons to be disturbed about the facts of life in many Aboriginal communities such as
high rates of poverty, ill health, family break down and suicide. It stressed that the
youth were at the highest risk.
It was also a time of hope...Aboriginal people were rebuilding their ancient ties to
each other, searching for their cultural roots and gaining strength to find solutions to
