The following is a list of Forest Capitals of Canada as designated by the Canadian Forestry Association since 1979. In each case, the nomination of a city or region has been made by the respective Provincial Forestry Association in a highly competitive process. The designation is made each year on the strength of formal proposals by the competitors that demonstrate their recognition of the social, economic, environmental and spiritual importance of the forest resource to their community, past, present and future. Over the years, campaigns that included elements of forest education, public awareness and a balance of creative events and significant legacy projects have all succeeded in suitably celebrating their designation.
