PAUL AMBROSE (1868-1941), was an organist, teacher, and composer. He studied in Hamilton with his father and in New York with Albert Ross Parsons and Kate Sara Chittenden, and composition and orchestration in New York, with Bruno Oscar Klein and Dudley Buck respectively. He held several positions as organist-choirmaster at various churches in New York & New Jersey, and taught music history at several schools there. He retired to Hamilton in 1934, where he became guest organist at Christ Church Cathedral. He composed over 200 songs, choral pieces and piano & organ works, and is best known for his anthems.
