Herbert L. Clarke



HERBERT L. CLARKE (1867-1945) was born in Massachusetts but raised in Toronto where his father, William Horatio Clarke became organist at Jarvis Street Baptist Church in 1880. After playing in orchestras and bands, Herbert organized the Heintzman Piano Company Band. When appearing as leading cornetist with the renowned Gilmore Band and later Sousa's Band, Clarke wrote Sweet Memories Waltz for piano around 1898.
