NAPOLÉON CRÉPAULT (1849-1906) was an organist, pianist, choirmaster and composer who was born in Kamouraska, Quebec. In 1865 he moved to Quebec City where he studied organ with Antoine Dessane and harmony with Ernest Gagnon. He was organist at several Quebec churches until knee injuries forced him to give up playing in 1883. He then concentrated on composition, writing about 40 songs, 30 piano pieces, a Mass, an oratorio and a cantata.
