Alexander Muir



ALEXANDER MUIR (1830-1906). Born in Scotland, he came to Canada at the age of three, when his parents settled in Scarborough Township, east of Toronto. He became a school teacher and later, school principal, having obtained a BA degree from Queen's University in 1851. He was an occasional poet and an amateur musician. He died in Toronto. He wrote the patriotic song "The Maple Leaf For Ever".
