Many major events have shaped the development of Chilliwack over the last two centuries. Only 100 years ago Chilliwack was a small community of less than 1500 people. Its center was Five Corners, a place where rural and urban residents gathered to celebrate community events. Today, the town has become a City with less of a focus on the downtown core. These timelines chronicle a process of change that has led to greater urbanization and a joining together of small distinctly separate rural communities.
