welcome

The Kensington area of P.E.I. has a rich and vibrant history to share, full of tales about taverns, trains, and tradesmen. Founded at the crossing of five roads, the town began with an inn for tired travellers. Developing rapidly after the opening of the railway in 1875, the bustling transportation hub grew into a prosperous community, fuelled by the abundant farming and fishing of the outlying areas.

This site is a virtual museum aimed at presenting the history of Kensington and its surrounding districts. It has been designed to meet the needs of a wide and varied audience, presenting pictures and stories about the railway, agriculture, the fishery, and town merchants.
