ABOUT THE COLLECTION
Ultimately the aim of the collection is to reflect our own exhibition
history as we build and interpret a comprehensive view of activity
in contemporary silica arts for our members and the visiting public.
International material is included as a developing collection usually
occurs through purchase, donation, bequest and endowment. We cherish
the opportunity to steward a collection which the organization a
public repository of growing heritage significance.
Occasionally, multiple acquisitions mark outstanding generosity.
The Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery applauds Unimin Canada Limited
for its extraordinary, generous donation of the Indusmin Collection.
For her integral contribution to realizing the collection, we convey
special thanks to Sheila Zeldin of ArtCollection Canada. Sincere
thanks to John Mathers and C.M. Mcphee, past Directors of Indusmin
Canada, all for their strong and abiding support of Canadian silica
artists.
In 1998, as the host venue for the International Academy of Ceramics,
we were fortunate to receive from that organization many pieces
made by their members and exhibited here on the occasion of their
conference here.
Increasingly, sectors of the communities we serve are using donation
to the collection as a means of celebrating individuals and events,
thus combining our custodial responsibility with public commemoration.
