The future of the coal industry is not what it once was. Coal is becoming less and less used as factories switch over to gas and petroleum products. But another approach may revitalize its flagging strength. It has been suggested that the historical interest of the mines and the people that have been associated with them could provide the basis for tourist attractions. Such a move would have the advantage of being a renewable resource not to mention the fact that time would only increase its historical value.
