Bourke, Rowland Richard Louis (1885-1958). A native of London, England, Bourke tried to enlist in the Canadian services. Rejected because of poor eyesight, Bourke joined the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve. On May 10th, 1918, the motor launch he was commanding near the port of Ostend, Belgium, was severely damaged by enemy fire. In the midst of heavy machine-gun fire, Bourke rescued three crew members. |
