Having spent much of his youth in England and in France, Goodridge Roberts enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in August of 1943 and was immediately appointed a War Artist. By the time of his return to Canada in 1944 he had completed 116 drawings and water colours. After receiving discharge in 1945, Roberts returned to teaching at the Art Association of Montreal. Fourteen years later he became the first artist-in-residence at the University of New Brunswick. Roberts returned to Québec in 1962 and passed away in January, 1974. |
