Mahony, John Keefer (1911-1990). Born in New Westminister, B.C., Mahony joined the militia and served with the Westminister Regiment. On May 24th, 1944, his company had been ordered to cross the Melfa River in Italy and establish a bridgehead. Wounded in both the head and leg, Mahony continued to direct his troops. The advance was successful and Mahony's persistence won him the Victoria Cross. |
