Cree Hand Signals

This site has close to 175 gif animations showing Don Philpot, a teacher and language specialist for the Transcona Springfield School Division in Winnipeg, demonstrating various Cree hand signals. Stella Neff, a Cree language consultant with the Swan Valley School Division taped this demonstration.

The Cree Hand Signals are divided into three categories:

1. Nouns -- for example, dog, brother, dish
2. Verbs Intransitive Animate -- for example, jump, eat, hot
3. Verbs Transitive Inanimate -- for example, bring it, turn off the light, touch it

Captions are provided for each hand signal.
