Pygmy marmosets are the smallest monkeys in the world! They are
fully grown at four inches which is about the size of your hand.
Although the pygmy marmosets are cute to look at you can't hold
them as they will bite to defend themselves. These little monkeys
are found in the tropical rain forests of Brazil. Sadly, their
numbers in the wild are low because their habitat is being destroyed
by humans.
How would you like to make your own finger puppet? Here's how
Monkey Finger Puppet
You may need adult supervision with this project.
Materials:
2 pieces of felt (brown and beige), scissors, black thread, needle,
pen, hot glue gun or craft glue, 2 googly eyes.
Step 1: Print out the monkey pattern - click
here for the diagram. Cut out all the different parts. Trace
the body twice on the brown felt and cut out. Trace the mouth
and nose and cut out. Trace the ears and cut out.
Step 2: Find the mouth and nose piece. Use the needle
and black thread to make 2 holes for the nose. Then do 4 or 5
small stitches in a row to make a mouth. Cut off any loose thread.
Step 3: Glue the mouth and nose piece on the front body
piece.
Step 4: Glue the 2 googly eyes above the mouth and nose
piece.
Step 5: Take the other body piece (the back) and glue
along the edge except the bottom. Place the ears on each side
of the head. Put more glue over the ear tabs and then carefully
press the front body piece down on the glue. Press gently and
watch your fingers! Let it dry.
Step 6: Place your creation on a finger. Congratulations
you have made a monkey finger puppet.
Note: Another idea is to sew the puppet instead of using
glue.
Although orchids have the same number of flower parts they can
be different in almost every other way … shape, colour, and size.
The stem and leaves can be different from plant to plant and some
orchids have a scent and others do not.
Wow!
