Tractors: There are 4 tractors on display
inside the driveshed, two are Massey-Harris tractors, one is a McCormick-Deering tractor
and one is a Case tractor. If you look closely at these tractors, you'll notice that they
look very similar to the tractors in use today. In fact, they are almost identical. The
tractors in use today would be more powerful, more efficient and would have rubber
tires. However, the design and construction would be almost exactly the same.
These tractors would have been used for almost everything on the
farm. They would have been used for transportation, driving the farmer around the farm and
even as far as the nearest village. They would have been used for pulling everything from
wagons with hay, plows and even groups of people. A tractor is even used to power the
shingle press in the sawmill. In whatever capacity the farmer used his tractor, it
was a very useful tool to the farmer. |
