Washing Machine:
The washing machine that
this family had was not like the ones that are used today. This house did not have
electricity and so, obviously they did not have any electrical appliances. The tools they
used were basic, as an example, a wooden bucket with a washboard attached. The clothes
would be rubbed against the washboard to remove the dirt. This family also had an added
feature, a machine that you could run the clothes through to dry them faster. These
tools were made by Canadian Woodenware. Back then, washing your dirty clothes was a lot
more work than simply sticking them in a machine. |
