Sewing Machine:

This would have been the most important tool a seamstress would have owned. Without her sewing machine, she would have had to spend a long time sewing everything by hand. It too, resembles the sewing machines that we have today. However it would have worked much differently. It would have been powered by a foot pedal and a connecting pulley that turned the sewing machine wheel. As opposed to most of today's models, that are powered by an electric motor. You can also see in this picture, other important tools a seamstress would have used. Kept close by is an iron, needles and of course thread.
