Electric Stove:
An electric stove would have been a very
uncommon thing for a family to own in the 1930s. The fact that this family had an electric
stove meant that they would have been able to afford luxuries that most families would not
have been able to afford. Not only did this family have an electric stove, they also had a
woodburning stove. This would have provided comfort all year around. In the summer
the electric stove would not make the place too hot and in the winter the woodburning
stove would have been used to heat the house as well as to make dinner. Can you imagine
having two stoves in your kitchen? Luckily they had a pretty big house! |
