Electric Washing Machine:
As you might have already seen when you
looked in Duford house, the family had two large pieces of equipment that they used to
wash their clothes. The Fouberts, who were quite well off even throughout the
Depression, were able to afford this electric washing machine. The washing machine was
very much like the ones that we have today. It would have worked in the same ways as ours
do today only without any of the fancy functions that has been added over the years. The
women of this family would have been very lucky. Having such a machine would have cut down
on some of the work that they would have had to do. |
