As the image shows, the carpenter had many tools at his disposal. His tools would have included many different types of handsaws, drills, and chisels. These tools would have been used to finish projects, creating a fine border or making a surface completely flat and smooth. These tools would have been used after the pieces of wood were cut with a wood saw. Many of the items that a carpenter made in the 1930s did not use nails to bind parts together, they were cut and fitted so that they would fit. Sometimes glue would be used as well. Without all the array of tools available, the carpenter would not have been able to create the things necessary for him to earn a living!
