Wood saw: Taylor Barn Woodsaw

This wood saw is what the carpenters of the 1930s would have used. It would have been a very important contribution to the carpenter's arsenal. Not only could he cut large pieces of wood into large general cuts, he could also precisely cut small pieces into intricate designs. A lot of time would have been spent at this wood saw, making the proper cuts and outlines for whatever project the carpenter would have been working on.

The saw is very similar to those we have today, only it was foot powered. Saws today are far more powerful, they are also able to cut through much more than just wood. Because this saw was only foot powered, it would have been very difficult to cut through any hard wood, therefore the carpenter would have mainly worked with mainly soft wood.
