The General Store:
This display of a
general store found in the train station is very close to what an actual store would have
looked like in the 1930s. The prices on the store's goods then would have to be multiplied
by 30 today, to get an idea of an equivalent cost. Most of the items in the store would
have been non-perishable. For example, the coffee, soup and canned vegetables would last a
long time. What to our eyes may look like a limited selection of goods was actually quite
a variety for that day. |
