GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION:
Wells is located in the Central Cariboo region of British Columbia, 81 km East of Quesnel.

DATE OF CONSTRUCTION:

1937

ARCHITECT:

Ed Richardson
Ed Richardson, a UBC civil engineering graduate, planned the entire Wells townsite. He went on to design several prominent neighborhoods in Vancouver, British Columbia.

CONTRACTOR:

The Wells Townsite Company, known as the Cariboo Gold Quartz Mining Company, was the main shareholder. The Wells Community Hall was the last 'company built' building constructed in Wells.
The company contracted Garvin Dezell, a Prince George contractor, to build the building. It was completed in 1938. (Goritsas, John. Feasibility Study for the Restoration of Wells Centennial Hall.)

Cariboo Gold Quartz Mining Company

  PRESENT:

In 1967, when the mine shut down, the Community Hall was sold to the Wells Chamber of Commerce.

Community gathering place. People outside the community sometimes rent the building.
