With the construction of a railway line in 1911 the Canadian Northern Railway (C.N.R) became an active member of the Langley community. (Ibid.) A growth in population allowed the CNR to propose building a station to handle the increase in railway activity. British Columbia Archives (b_07958)

In 1915 the CNR built a station which followed the design of their other stations. 'Langley Station', as it would be known, was built to expand the service of the Canadian Northern Railway. ( Langley's Heritage: A Listing of Heritage Resources in Langley , 30.) Due to financial difficulty, the station became part of the by Canadian National Railway in 1918. Canadian National developed the site to include a "larger living quarters for the Station Agent." (Ibid.) Passenger service at the station was discontinued in 1980. The station remained idle until 1983 when the City of Langley bought and then moved the building to its current address. The railway station "now owned by the municipality...was declared a municipal heritage site in 1984." (Ibid.)
